How mouth blown glasses are made

2024-05-11 11:46

The first process of blowing is material picking. The worker gently picked the glass liquid with a picking rod, and a ball of orange glass liquid adhered to the pipe mouth. Subsequently, the blowing worker blows the glass liquid into bulb shaped balls, which are then fixed on a roller to maintain their shape. This step is commonly known as blowing small bubbles. The picture shows the initial blown glass bubbles. On the basis of forming the material, take the material again and place it in a rolling bowl, continuously rotating it to form a circular shape, preparing for the next blowing step. After the material is evenly distributed, the blowing worker slowly blows air into the rod from the other end of the picking rod while rotating the rod body. The blowing time and amount are the key to ensuring the size of the product. Excessive blowing can cause the end of the product to be too thin and the size to be too large; On the contrary, the end is too thick and the size is too small.

Place the blown material into the mold and adjust the angle while blowing air. Under continuous blowing and rotation, the material bubbles continuously expand and gradually fit the mold. This step is called blowing "big bubbles" and requires a high level of skill from the blowing worker, usually requiring years of blowing experience to complete. Glass products must undergo annealing treatment after forming. Maintain insulation or slowly cool down within an appropriate temperature range for a period of time to reduce thermal stress in the glass.

The above is how the glass vases are produced.
